Luxe Box - August 2011

It is one of my favourite times of the month - my August Luxe Box is here! I was pleasantly surprised when I checked the tracking number today and found out that it was already out for delivery. Totally was not expecting it until Monday. Also kind of ironic that I received it today, considering that I had a dream last night that I received it, and woke up thinking "MAN, I wish I was getting it today!"

For those of you who have not heard about the service, for $12 a month (just over $13 including HST), Luxe Box by Loose Button delivers 3-5 deluxe beauty samples to you every month, all wrapped up in super pretty packaging. Unfortunately this service is only available in Canada at the moment, though they are looking to expand internationally.

This is my third Luxe Box, and I gotta say, I have not been disappointed with a single one so far! I have definitely gotten my money's worth, especially because I have gotten at least one full-sized product in every box. Gotta love that. I also like that it gives me a chance to try a bunch of new products for relatively little cost, especially when they are things that I normally do not sample at the store (ie: perfumes, makeup in "adventurous" shades, new face products, etc.).

Opening up the box! (...Actually, I already opened it prior to taking pictures, because I was that impatient, but let's pretend it was the first time?)

The goodies

What I received in my box:

" Proclaim Hand & Body lotion moisturizes dry, irritated skin while protecting from sun, wind and water. It restores lost moisture and soothes dry, tight skin. Leaves skin feeling smooth and soft without feeling greasy."

(Retails For:  $78 / 50 ml, $102 / 100 ml)

And, as a bonus, I received handmade earrings from Sheyna Jewelry. When I first read this, I was a little worried about what they would look like, haha. I am a person who is pretty picky about my jewelry, especially earrings. I do like the odd eclectic piece, but for the most part, I usually go simple and classic - think simple gold or silver, white/clear stones, and that's usually it. I wear rhinestone studs in my ears and my nose, and a simple silver barbell in my rook piercing. That is it.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that these earrings? Keep completely in line with my tastes! I love them, actually. They are so pretty and simple, but totally not boring. I have also had a bit of a soft spot for pearls lately, so these are perfect. I think that they are a nice mix of girly cute and elegant, which complements my overall sense of style. Good job, Loose Button! You would think that they had actually been jewelry shopping with me before, haha.

Initial Thoughts:
According to my little card, I was part of the select group of customers who received the Pur Minerals pressed powder, and they matched my skin tone according to the beauty profile that I filled out when I first signed up for the service. It seems as if they got it right! I have only gotten the opportunity to swatch it on my hand though, so we will see how it goes when I try it out tomorrow with the rest of my makeup.

The lip plumping treatment I like so far, because it looks good on my lips, and it doesn't burn quite like other lip treatments. There is a slight burn, but definitely not the feeling of your lips burning off, haha. However, my throat is slightly burning at the moment as well, which I have a feeling is a side effect from tasting the gloss... oops?

The Proclaim hand lotion seems pretty decent. Actually, I was pretty excited to receive this, since I needed a new purse-sized hand lotion. It definitely smells like cocoa, which I thinkkk needs to grow on me a bit, but at least it will smell AND moisturize better than the nasty honeysuckle-scented lotion that they have at work (which smells exactly like wet, stinky washcloths to me). It does seem to be quite moisturizing though, since I had a nasty dry patch of skin on my hand that has somewhat improved, even with the little bit that I applied. Right on.

As for the Calvin Klein fragrance? LOVE it! The bottle is actually a little roller ball, which is so much better than the stupid dropper bottles that you usually get with sample-sized fragrances. The scent itself is actually also right up my alley, because it's not too floral-y, not too manly, either. The perfect amount of sexy and feminine. This one may be a keeper once I have the money for a full-sized bottle!

Overall, this month, again, did not disappoint. If you haven't already signed up for Luxe Box and are Canadian, seriously, do it now! It is worth it :)
