FAQ

Are all of these questions actually FAQ?
No. They are either anticipated-FAQ, actual-FAQ, and pretend-FAQ (aka. just for fun :D).

Why "cinnabee"?
It was a nickname that a co-worker at one of my previous workplaces gave me. Our entire department had "-bee" related nicknames, haha. And I am horrible at thinking up usernames/titles for blogs, so this has become one of my standard names.

What is your skin type and condition?
I have combination skin. I don't have any major issues with acne, and as I have gotten older my breakouts have become mostly hormonal, but I do have issues with blackheads and large pores.

What is your skin tone?
Fair, with pink undertones. I usually wear the lightest or one of the lightest shades of drugstore foundations.

What is your hair like?
Thick and wavy. It is currently long and au naturel colour-wise, for the most part!

Where do you buy your Asian cosmetics from?
I purchase the majority of my Korean cosmetics from Gmarket, which ships directly from Korea at market-value prices (as in, the prices you pay are what you would pay if you walked into the brand's store). HOWEVER, shipping costs from Gmarket can be pretty pricey, especially to North America, and despite the fact that there is an English version of the site, I don't know how user-friendly it is unless you have knowledge of the Korean language/script, haha.  If you plan to go the Gmarket route, I highly suggest making a larger order so that the shipping cost per item is lower.

Sites such as YesStyle and Sasa also sell Korean and other Asian cosmetics though, and you can try your luck at Ebay. Also, if you live close to a T&T Supermarket, they sell My Beauty Diary sheet masks at a good price! And if you live in the Vancouver area, you can try your luck at Crystal Mall in Burnaby. There is a store there which sells BB creams and other Asian cosmetics (though at a significant mark-up).

Favourite Stores?
Sephora, H&M, Costa Blanca, Le Chateau, RW & Co., Suzy Shier, Forever 21, Spring, Aldo, Nine West, Bath & Body Works, Lush, Shopper's Drug Mart, Sally Beauty Supply (for nail polish, mostly, because their China Glaze is cheap!)... I have a feeling that I am forgetting one or two, but they aren't coming to mind at the moment, haha. For online stores, I also love Gmarket! It is a haven for cheap clothes and accessories.

Guilty Pleasures?
White wine (by the bottle, not the glass; that is why it is a guilty pleasure!), red wine with ice cubes in it, chick lit, chick flicks, Diet Pepsi, Starbucks in general, full-fat lattes, lattes with whip, getting McDonald's when I am either drunk/hungover, dark chocolate, lindt chocolate in general, korean pop music, korean dramas, late-night snacking (Curling up with a drama and some junk food? So good, yet so bad), skipping class to sleep in, sleeping in super late, splurging, lazy Sundays. That's all I can think of at the moment. I'm sure that there are more.

Food that you can cook the best?
Baked goods in general, as well as non-Western foods. I mean, I can cook Western food pretty well, but prefer my mom's cooking to mine in that regard.

Why are you learning Korean?
I first got into Korean music about 9 years ago, with the discovery of BoA. From there, I moved into Korean dramas about 7 years ago, and I soon realized that HEY I like how Korean sounds, and I wanted to learn the language. So I started learning the language, met some Korean people, learned about the Korean culture, and Korean Studies eventually became my major. Do I want to be Korean? Not at all. I have always had a love of foreign languages and culture ever since I was old enough to understand the concept, and always thought that it would be cool to learn a language that had a different script. Did I ever expect it to be Korean? No. Is it slightly unusual? Yes. But I love the language and love learning it!

What other languages would you love to learn?
Right now I am focusing on Korean, because that is the language that I am closest to fluency in (though I am still far from fluent). I would love to start French classes again though, as I took 8 years of it throughout elementary school, high school, and first year university. I have also always wanted to learn German, though I'm not too sure if I will get around to it.
