I am Ashley, a 22-year-old currently located in British Columbia, Canada. A self-professed product junkie, I have been experimenting with make-up ever since my mom gave me some of her cast-offs as a child. Despite using make-up for so long, however, it has only been somewhat recently that I have started building my collection with quality product and mixing things up as far as everyday looks go.
My make-up story goes way back, but is not a very long one. As previously mentioned, I have been playing with make-up since I was a child, and started wearing it around the age of twelve. I guess this is pretty early, but considering how into make-up my mom was (and still is), she had no problem with allowing me to start wearing a little bit! One of my fond memories includes my mother looking at my eyebrows at the age of ten, tsking, and then literally attacking them with the tweezers. I am grateful for it now, but at the time... ahaha. Anyway, from there on, I wore make-up fairly regularly, though obviously it was very light and only the basics at first.
As for other parts of my life, fashion is an interest of mine, though I do not claim to be a fashionista in any sense of the word. I love cute clothing and accessories and all of that, but I am not that spectacular at being "original," or putting stuff together in creative or interesting ways. I usually get my inspirations from store mannequins. Yes. That original.
My hobbies include cooking, baking, photography, music, and learning foreign languages. I was a "band nerd" in high school, and played the flute and piccolo as my main instruments, while learning how to play the tenor sax, clarinet, and trumpet on the side (which I ultimately somewhat failed at). I am also a wino -- I love wine, visiting wineries, and trying new wines. Cooking was a skill that I magically learned, and learned to love, when I moved out of my parents' house for the first time -- I suspect that learning to bake at an early age, as well as observing my mother was the "magic" behind this, haha. As for learning foreign languages, I am proficient in Franglais, speak conversational French, and am doing my absolute best to become fluent in Korean. My major is related to Korean studies (language and culture), so it is safe to say that it is a pretty big part of my life. How I got into and became interested in this field is kind of a long story, but I have been listening to Asian music since I was 13, and watching Korean dramas since I was 15. I watch way too many dramas and listen to probably way too much kpop than what is good for me. Therefore, Korean will probably pop up in this blog from time to time, in the form of drama-ramblings, as well as references to Korean fashion, food, and cosmetics!
As a child, I was also a huge bookworm. University has kind of destroyed my ability to read for pleasure on a regular basis, however, discussion of books that I am reading both for pleasure as well as for class may pop up from time to time :)
