I am typically not a cheapo when it comes to beauty-related things, as most of you can probably deduce. I do not shy away from spending money on hair cuts, or expensive makeup, or expensive face products, or whatever have you. But when it comes to waxing? I would much rather save myself the expense and do it myself. Not that I'm super hairy and would need to get it done often at the salon anyway, but I would much rather spend my waxing $$$ on some new makeup instead of getting my hair ripped out of its follicles by a no-nonsense esthetician.
Now, a couple of weeks ago I was on a mission to find a waxing kit, with good old-fashioned wax and strips. However, at my local Wal Mart, there wasn't a SINGLE kit to be found, so... to my chagrin, I had to go with waxing strips.
I will let it be known now that I am not a fan of waxing strips. I hate having to heat them up in my hands. I hate having to go over areas because it missed hair. I would much rather make trips to the microwave to heat the wax. BUT, since this was my only option at the time, and since it was a Parissa product, I figured that I might have better luck.
CONS: Now, maybe I'm doing it wrong, but these things are not "express" in the slightest. They are a gigantic pain in the arse. Now, it's nice to not have the mess of dipping a stick into the wax and slathering it on -- I will give them that. They also remove hair, somewhat. But honestly? If I'm going to have to go back over areas to remove hair that the wax strip left behind, I would much rather deal with super-sticky wax.
Maybe my hair is too fine. Maybe I don't have enough of it. Maybe I wasn't holding my skin taught enough when I ripped the strip off. Maybe I needed to heat these suckers up in my hands a bit more. But these things did NOT work for me in the way that I wanted them to. I ended up getting frustrated and just went back and finished off the job with my razor.
PROS: These come with a nice little bottle of oil, which does a very nice job of cleaning up sticky residue. They are also great for little patch removal, and generally removed my coarser hair. They adhered well to certain areas and did not hurt as nastily as the Veet wax strips I made the mistake of purchasing back in high school. If I had upper lip hair to remove, I probably would purchase the wax strips for your face, because again these did a good job on smaller areas, but not on my legs. Unfortunately, the only reason why I purchased them was because I wanted to wax my legs.
So, that's really all I have for the pros of this product. I did not like it, and will not be repurchasing it. I probably will only use them for that one little bit of hair that it actually managed to remove. Next time I will just go to a different store and buy my good ol' Parissa wax kit, the tried and true, albeit messier, method.
